Christian Ronaldo has set his sights on 800 careers goals after hitting 750 goals in Juventus Champions League win over Dynamo Kyiv on Wednesday.
The Portuguese forward scored the second for the Italian champions, already through to the last 16, when he tapped in after Georgi Bushchan’s attempted block rebounded off Juve striker Alvaro Morata.
Ronaldo was a made to wait a few seconds before the VAR team signalled to the French referee the goal would stand.
Writing on Instagram after the game, Ronaldo thanked all who had helped him acheieve the feat.
He wrote, “705 goals, 705 happy moments, 705 smiles in the faces of our supporters. Thank you to all the players and coaches that helped me reach this amazing number, thank you to all my loyal opponents that made me work harder and harder everyday. But above all, thanks to my wonderful family, always present in my best and worst moments. Next stop: 800 goals! Let’s go! Fino Alla Fine!”
Ronaldo is now just 17 goals behind Pele and 22 behind Romario in the all-time charts, according to a list compiled by the Soccer Statistics Foundation.
However, he still has some way to go in order to top Czech-Austrian forward Josef Bican, who scored more than 800 goals in his career from 1928 to 1955, according to UEFA.
