Sharia police intercepts beer-laden tricycle

The Kano State Hisbah Board (Shariah police) has intercepted a tricycle loaded with 100 cartons of different brands of beer “while trying to smuggle the intoxicants” into the ancient city.

The owner of the tricycle was said to have escaped arrest.

A statement on by the board’s Public Relations Officer, Lawan Fagge, said the Commander General of the corps, Harun Ibn Sina, decried activities of some of the tricycle operators who allowed themselves to be used to smuggle intoxicants into the state.

He warned the tricycle operators to stop the illegal act or be ready to face the wrath of the law.

He urged security agents in the state to redouble efforts to curtail the situation.

“He also advised all various stakeholders in the tricycle business in the state to continue to collaborate and evolve more ways towards fishing out erring individuals who engage in smuggling alcohols, Indian hemp, and other illegal drugs.
