Sick Nigerian coaches to benefit from relief funds

President of the Nigeria Football Coaches Association, Ladan Bosso, has disclosed that ailing Nigerian coaches will benefit from the relief funds from the Nigeria Football Federation.

Kadiri Ikhana, Charles Bassey, Christian Chukwu are some of the top coaches battling varying ailments.

The coaches association is expected to receive $50,000 (N19,300,000) from the FIFA’s funds redistribution through the NFF.

“It’s a good thing that the NFF has deemed it fit for the coaches to be part of the funds and on behalf of the coaches in Nigeria, I want to appreciate the gesture,” Bosso told The Newsmen.

“Once we receive the money, we will hold an exco-meeting and if possible, a congress. With this fund we hope to leave a lasting legacy.

“We are expecting $20,000 for office operation and $30,000 for coaches’ development and that could be in two ways.

“Firstly, it’s either we organise coaching courses for our members or the NFF organise these courses and we pay on behalf of our coaches directly.

“Coaches that are down with an ailment and need serious attention will also get some funds to alleviate them.

“This will not be decided solely by me but the coaches’ association as I don’t work in isolation.”
