Kaduna State Governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai said on Monday that the major concern of his administration is to see that people live together in peace.
The governor said this shortly after a private meeting with the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar lll, at the Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, Kaduna, on Monday.
TEl-Rufai said the Sultan of Sokoto and leader of Nigerian Muslims prayed for God to bring peace to Kaduna and Nigeria in general during the private session with him.
“The Sultan also prayed to God to bring peace in not only in Kaduna state but Nigeria in general, especially the insecurity bedeviling northern Nigeria,” he said.
El Rufai maintained that the Sultan came to advise and guide him as well as to “express his support for our efforts at bringing peace to Kaduna State.”
He continued that his relationship with the Sultan started when he was a student at Barewa College.
El-Rufai said, “He came on a private visit to talk to me, to advice me, to guide me and also expressed his support for our efforts at bringing peace to Kaduna State.
“He is happy that many people have come all talking about peace and felt he should not be left out particularly in light of our historical relationship not only as Barewa old boys but as my elder brother.
“We discussed many things but what the sultan and I discussed is private between us and not something that I will go into except to say that I’m grateful to him for the visit , for the support and for his affection all the time.
Meanwhile, the Sultan kept a sealed lips when reporters accosted him for comments on his visit, saying “I came to visit my brother.”
