A group of young people, allegedly from the Bayelsa State section of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), organized a demonstration on Tuesday demanding the expulsion of Mr. Timi Alaibe from the party.
Members of the group, who stormed the party’s national secretariat in Abuja, accused Alaibe of being an active member of the Progressive Congress (APC).
Under the auspices of the PDP National Youth Rebirth Forum, protesters displayed placards in solidarity with Bayelsa state governor Duoye Diri.
Recall that Alaibe is currently in court contesting the nomination of Diri as a candidate for the PDP during the elections for the post of governor of November 16, 2019 in the state.
The trial of Alaibe, a pre-electoral affair, asks the court to cancel the appointment of Diri and he (Alaibe) will be declared the winner of the PDP’s primary election.
According to him, the primary election which produced Diri as candidate of the PDP violated the provisions of the constitution of the party.
