
The Lawmaker representing Ilesa east state constituency, Hon Timothy Owoye has emerged as the new speaker of the Osun House of Assembly, this is just as Hon. Femi Popoola repesenting Boripe Boluwaduro State Constituency was elected as the Deputy Speaker.
Hon. Owoeye emerged the speaker at the inauguration of the 7th assembly which marked the end of the 6th assembly under the leadership of Dr Najeem Salam who ran concurrently for two-terms on the platform of the ruling all progressives congress (APC).
Other principal officers of the house were also elected at the event which had in attendance notable politicians from across the state.

The New Speaker who conducted the affairs of the house for the first time promised to work hand in hand with the executive arm of government for the development of the state and the uplift of the people.
Meanwhile, Governor Gboyega Oyetola has sought the support of the newly inaugurated House of Assembly of the state of Osun to ensure the smooth running of his administration.

Governor Oyetola who made this known during the inauguration of the 7th assembly described the last Osun house of assembly as progressive.
He congratulated the new Speaker, Hon Timothy Owoeye, describing him as a trained technocrat with years of experience to move the state to an enviable height.
He noted that with the co-operation of the legislators, his administration would continue to take the state to greater height.
