UNGA77: Buhari bids farewell to world leaders

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday, told world leaders that his regime is committed to delivering a free and fair electoral process that would usher in a new president next year.

He also said a new face will be representing Nigeria at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly come 2023.

Buhari made these comments during his last address as President at the 77th session of the UNGA holding in New York, USA.

“One of my legacies is a free and fair election in 2023. And you will see a new face here speaking for Nigeria at the 78th UNGA,” he said.

He also called for the lightening of the debt burdens for less capable countries and outright debt cancellation for states incapable of repaying debts; a call he made last year at the 76th session of the UNGA.

Buhari also thanked the world leaders who have cooperated with Nigeria in the efforts to tackle various challenges while highlighting his government’s efforts to bring peace and stability to the West African sub-region.
