
Osun State Head of Service ,Mr. Samuel Ayanleye Aina on Wednesday met with the labour leaders in the State to deliberate on the issues affecting civil servants’ welfare. The meeting was held in the Conference Hall of the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs,Abere.
Head of Service in his welcome address appreciated all the labour groups in the State and solicited their support for the Governor , Senator Ademola Adeleke.
He then urged them to join hands with the State helmsman to ensure his success.. He also advised them to inform their members to ensure punctuality at work and neat dressing, stressing that the way you dress is the way you will be addressed.
In their separate remarks, the trio of Chairman, Nigeria Labour Congress, Comrade Jacob Adekomi, Chairman Trade Union Congress, Comrade Adekola Adebowale and Chairman Joint Negotiation Council, Comrade Olasunkanmi Akinleye, on behalf of the Labour Centres congratulated the new Head of Service on his appointment,describing it as well deserved. They thanked him for recognising the organized labour in the state and called for synergy between the Office of Head of Service and labour movement in the State on workers welfare, especially on prompt payment of salaries and allowances of workers, as well as deductions. They also requested for inclusion of qualified labour leaders into the appointment of Permanent Secretaries
The labour leaders also urged the government to resuscitate Civil Service Housing Loan Board and be funded to cater for workers welfare in the area of housing. They also requested the current administration to improve on training and retaining of civil servants,and to pay promotion arrears for civil servants in the State.
In his reaction to workers demand , the Director, Senior Management Services, Mr Najeem Akintola said the Head of Service has resolved some of the issues raised by the labour leaders and that others will be looked into .
In his closing remark, the Head of Service urged the labour centres in the State to join hands with government in ensuring that Internal Generated Revenue is improved .
Present at the meeting were other labour leaders and Directors in the Public Service Office along with their counterparts in the Ministry of Human Resources and Capacity Building.
