No fewer than 1085, 2021 Batch C Stream II National Youth Service Corps members on Thursday, passed out from the various local government areas in Gombe State.
While six are expected to repeat, four others absconded in the course of their service in Gombe.
Addressing corps members in Gombe Local Government Area, the state coordinator, Mrs. Ada Imoni, implored them to not despise meagre beginnings by putting to use, the skills acquired through the Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development Programme.
According to her, the era for dependence on the government for white collar jobs had passed, urging them to think of ways to start up businesses for self-reliance.
Imoni, also called on them to say no to thuggery and other social vices as the scheme prepared corps members for the general elections come 2023.
Speaking on Community Development Service, Imoni commended those who stood out in CDS by leaving indelible prints in their host communities.
Our correspondent reports that Imoni, went round the various points where corps members were issued certificate of national service across the state.
“Six out of the 1085 Corps members that passed out got extension of service for various offences committed, while four absconded from service,” she added.
