The woman whose husband was shot dead at a Collation Centre in Ondo State, Mrs Oluwaseyi Akinfolarin, has called for the arrest and prosecution of the soldier who pulled the trigger.

Her husband, Akinlabi Akinfolarin, was allegedly shot by a soldier attached to the INEC collation center at Owena Ayetoro, Idanre local government area.

The deceased was among supporters that accompanied winner of the House of Representatives seat for Ifedore/Idanre Federal Constituency, Hon Festus Akingbaso, to receive his Certificate of Result when he was killed.

He was reportedly shot after a scuffle with security operatives

But his wife, in a chat with journalists, said her late husband was not a thug or political miscreant as being portrayed in the media.

Her words: “My husband was a peace loving man that harbor no grudges against anybody. Before his demise, we talked and he said everything is okay but surprisingly, the next call I received was that he has been killed by a soldier.”

His friend, Oluwalana Oluwaseun, said the deceased did not drag or struggle with military personnel before he was shot.

The lawmaker elect for Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency, Festus Akingbaso, vowed that the case would not be one of the casualties of the 2023 elections.

Akingbaso said the deceased was shot at the centre to witness the presentation of Certificate of Return to him.

He urged security agencies to unravel those behind the killing.

Akingbaso who described the victim as his strong supporter appealed to the people of the community to be calm and allow the law to take its course.
