In order to cushion the effect of the ongoing lockdown as a result of Covid-19 pandemic, the second batch of palliative for the aged, widow, widowers and other beneficiaries in Oba Oke shall be distributed today Friday, 22nd May, 2020.
A statement by the Oba Oke Covid-19 Palliative Committee after the reports gotten from the people shortly after the distribution of the first batch indicates that there is the need to raise more fund to take care of more people, particularly those who needed assistance but were not captured in the first batch.
The committee which swung into action and was able to generate #300k, then resolved to use the donation to take care of another set of people.
The items, comprise Foreign Rice, Quality Beans and Semovita had been purchased on Thursday, 21st May, 2020 and delivered at a secured place in Oba Oke.
The distribution of the palliatives to beneficiaries, whose names have been compiled accordingly and approved by the Oloba Oke and his Chiefs will take place today.
The list, apart from covering all compounds in Oba Oke also contains Corps Members serving in Oba Oke, Benue indigenes such as Tiv, Idomas, Agatus, aged Herdsmen/Fishermen etc who have been living peacefully with us for donkey years and who are in need.
