In continuation of its meeting with stakeholders in the distribution and sales of premium motor spirit, popularly called petrol, The Presidential Task Force on Petroleum Distribution and Monitoring has met with the major marketers of the product with a view to solving some of the teething challenges militating against the availability of the product.
This is contained in a statement by the Media Officer of the Task Force, Mr Tajudeen Ahmad and made available to OSBC NEWS.

According to the statement, chairman of the Agency, Hon Kunle Ayantoye, informed leadership of the major marketers that it decided to have a round table discussion with all stakeholders in the distribution and sales of the product before it begins clampdown on erring fuel dealers and marketers.

Hon Ayantoye said untoward acts by marketers such as litre calibration, diversion, hoarding among others are criminal offences which will be dealt with appropriately by the agency.

In their remarks, The chairman of the major marketers in the state Alhaji Suleiman Afolabi and other members urged the agency to begin their monitoring from depots where some of these challenges such as diversion, quantity reduction and under delivery begin.

They lamented other challenges encountered such as high tax from the government, low commission on the product, and problem of Tanker Drivers which reduce the supply of the product to some major marketers in Osun.

Hon Ayantoye therefore promised to address the issues in the next trip to Ibadan depot.
