An Ikeja high court has sentenced one Muritala Salami, to death by hanging.

Justice Adenike Coker Thursday convicted Salami, the leader of a four-man armed robbery gang to death for the offence of armed robbery.

The convict was arraigned on a two count charge of conspiracy and robbery before the court.

Justice Coker found the convict, who was arrested for robbery on April 16, 2016, guilty of the two-count charge brought against him by the state.

Justice Coker, convicted Salami of conspiracy to commit robbery contrary to section 299 of criminal law and Armed Robbery contrary to section 297 (a) of the Criminal law.

Other members of the gang escaped during the time of arrest.

The prosecuting counsel, Dr. Jide Martins, a director with the Department of Public Prosecutions (DPP) in the Lagos State Ministry of Justice, had earlier, during trial, told the court how Salami and his gang conspired and robbed one Mr. Okocha Anthony Afiam of two phones and two wristwatches.
