The Federal High Court of Abuja intensified its protective measures on Monday to protect against the spread of COVID 19.
The Nigeria News Agency (NAN) observed that the court had purchased additional hand sanitizers at the entrance to the main courthouse and in each courtroom.
Many health workers were also seen at the entrance to the court complex to check the temperature of lawyers, litigants and the general public.
However, there are no restrictions on the number of people inside the courtrooms.
Court No. 9, where the former head of department, Ms. Winifred Oyo-Ita, will be charged by the EFCC, is at full capacity.
People are standing and sitting side by side without worrying about the social distancing warning.
Attempts by the court clerk and some lawyers to decongest the court fell on deaf ears.
Oyo-Ita is in court pending his indictment by the anti-corruption agency for 18 counts of money laundering amounting to 570 million naira.
