SEVENTEEN indigenes of Sokoto State abducted by suspected bandits from neighbouring Zamfara State were among those rescued recently by the Joint Task Force against banditry and kidnapping, operating in Katsina and the two states.
Elated Governor Tambuwal, while receiving the victims from a delegation from Zamfara, reiterated his administration’s commitment towards ensuring adequate security of lives and property for the people in the state.
He commended the Government of Zamfara State and the Armed Forces for their efforts in the rescue of the victims from kidnappers.
Tambuwal expressed happiness that the victims, 16 from Tureta and one from Rabah Local Government Areas respectively, were found in good health after they were examined by the medical personnel of Government House, Sokoto.
The governor appealed to the people of the state and elsewhere to continue to support the security agencies working in the state to enable them to play their roles in securing areas where bandits were operating.
