No fewer than six persons have been killed by some bandits suspected to be Fulani herdsmen in the Mararaba Udege area of the Nasarawa Local Government Area of Nasarawa State.

The overseer of Udege development area in the Nasarawa local government area of the state, Mr Salihu Adamu, confirmed this on Thursday.

He said that three vigilantes, as well as one Afor man, were killed by the bandits, adding that two Fulani militia men were also gunned down by the vigilantes.

He said, “On Monday this week, some bandits kidnapped occupants of two Hummer buses in Gidan Oga village. They shot at the vehicles and about 40 passengers were abducted.

According to him, “The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Bola Longe, ordered the deployment of Special Anti Robbery Squad men in the village and with the help of vigilantes, they went for them in the bush. There was an exchange of gun fire and three vigilantes, two Fulani and one Afo man were killed.”

The overseer of Udege, Adamu, disclosed that the people were still with the bandits, saying that the governor of the state, Abdullahi Sule, had also ordered the deployment of Army special force to ensure that the victims were rescued.

The state Police Public Relation Officer, ASP Namsel Ramhan, said he would get back to our correspondent.
