Osun Community Development Council pledges support for Oyetola

The Osun Community Development Council has pledged unflinching commitment to the administration of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola.

The council also said though it had many demands before the government that were yet to be attended to, but that will not in any way affect its support for the administration bearing in mind the financial constraints and other challenges faced by the government.

Chairman of the council, Alhaji Isa Abubakar, disclosed this at a meeting with the Special Adviser to Governor Adegboyega Oyetola on Civic Engagement, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, in his office at the Centre for Civic Engagement, Osogbo.

Abubakar said, “We as a body have our yearnings which we expect the government to meet but not yet attended to, that notwithstanding will not in any way weakened our support for the government.”

While restating demands of the council, Abubakar sought for empowerment, adequate attention and strategic recognition in the administration of the state.

He also used the opportunity to call on chairmen of local government councils to take active charge in relieving the challenges of the forum.

“Without equivocation, we understand and acknowledge the efforts of the state government in expending to make things work in the light of the challenge of financial constraints.

“Our support for the government is against the backdrop of the giant strides achieved by Oyetola’s administration especially in the aspect of consistent salary payment, upgrading of Health facilities in all the communities, adequate security with the introduction of Amotekun to complement conventional security agencies in engendering a peaceful and crime free state, as well as use of instruments of conflict resolution to avert every form of ethnic clash in various communities we represent,” Abubakar concluded.

Responding, Oyintiloye thanked the council on behalf of Oyetola, as he also promised the council that the governor would continue to engage citizens and equally carry them along in the process of policy formulation and execution of programmes.

He maintained that the Community Development Council remains a critical stakeholder which facilitates grassroots mobilization.

Oyintiloye also emphasized that the meeting was in line with the policy of the Governor to maximally engage the citizens and share their thoughts and ideas for progress of the state.

“Against the backdrop of the aforesaid, Community Development Council is a veritable coordinating tool which the government cannot take for granted in its drive to ensure people-centered governance,” Oyintiloye said.

He however, restated the commitment of Governor Oyetola to ensuring that every critical stakeholder in the state was carried along in his all-inclusive governance.
