Nigeria Professional Football League side Dakkada FC and coach Caleb Esu have parted ways as the club prepare for the 2020/21 season, which is expected to kick off on Sunday.

Speaking with our correspondent on Wednesday, Esu said he left the Uyo-based club on principle.

“I’m no more with Dakkada on principle. I’m in Calabar.

“I’m in my house and I’m not signed to any club at the moment. I’m ready for any team that is willing to secure my services,” Esu told The Newsmen.

Esu’s contract with the team, who are playing their second season in the topflight, expired at the end of the 2019/20 season, with the club failing to renew the deal.

The club’s chairman, Dickson Aniedi, however declined comments on the club’s plans towards getting a new coach before the commencement of the new season.

“No comments,” he told The Newsmen.

Esu helped Dakkada gain promotion to the NPFL from the Nigerian National League in the 2018/19 season.

Dakkada were eighth on the NPFL table before the league was called off in March due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
