The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has urged federal and state governments to intensify fight against banditry and kidnapping, especially on the Benin-Auchi expressway.

The National Vice-President (Special Duties) of NANS, Odiahi Ikhine, made the call in Edo State during the convention and inauguration of NANS executives at the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi.

He lamented that the Benin-Auchi expressway has become a death trap, especially for students.

Ikhine advised the new executives to discharge their duties in accordance with the directives of the union, stressing that students’ welfare should be their priority.

“NANS, through the Vice-President, Odiahi Ikhine, called on the federal and state governments and by extension security agencies to intensify efforts in the fight against banditry and kidnapping, mostly on the Benin-Auchi expressway that has become a death trap,” he said in a statement yesterday.
