
A teenage weightlifter, Islamiyat Yusuf Adebukola on Monday won a bronze medal to increase the number of medal won by Team Nigeria to 4.
The Erin-Osun born young weightlifter won a bronze medal in the 64kg women category at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.
She Lifted 93kg in Snatch as well as 113kg in Clean and jerk making a total 212kg to secure Nigeria’s 4th medal in Weightlifting.
The young lady who was making her first appearance at the game had intimidating junior championship records which include 2017 African youth and junior championship where she coasted home 3 Gold medals in Entebbe, Uganda.
Yusuf, who made her debut at the 2017 National Youth Games in Ilorin, Kwara State where she won 3 Gold Medals also bagged 2 silver at the African Junior championship in Egypt 2018.
At the 2018 Youth Olympic in Buenos Aires, Argentina, Yusuf finished 4th before bagging 2 Gold and One Silver at the All African youth Games 2018.
She however qualified for the 2022 Commonwealth Games after winning a Gold Medal at the Africa Weightlifting Championship in Mauritius this year.
