The Independent National Electoral Commission in Ekiti State has assured political parties, candidates and stakeholders that the house of assembly supplementary election billed for Saturday in Ekiti east constituency one, will be free, fair, transparent and credible.
Major contenders in the election are Hon. Ojo-ade Fajana of the Peoples Democratic Party, who is seeking re-election and Mr Juwa Adegbuyi of the All Progressives Congress.
The election is billed for five polling units in the constituency following the declaration of the house of assembly poll as inconclusive. Already, results of the remaining 25 state constituencies had been declared and won by APC candidates.
Acting Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ekiti, Dr Muslim Omoleke, said in Ado Ekiti that INEC decided to suspend elections in the polling units due to disruptions, thereby making the outcome inconclusive in line with its vow to be neutral and fair to all contenders in any election.
