Muideen Adeleke

Muideen Oyetunji Ajadi Adeleke, is an accomplished Journalist, passionate Sportswriter, Communication Teacher and astute Public Relations Practitioner of over three decades.

A holder of the Bachelor of Arts honours and Masters of Arts degrees from Nigeria’s Premier University(UI) in Communication and Language Arts, he made a foray into the media industry as a Reporter with Ultimate Links Limited, the Publishers of ” Osun News” and “Iroyin Osun” tabloids(now defunct) in 1991 before joining Osun State Broadcasting Corporation, first as a Freelance presenter with the Programmes Department in 1992, before switching to the News and Current Affairs Department(Radio) same year, as an Editor(English Desk).

Mr. Adeleke was employed as Editor II in 1993, worked in various units both of the Radio and Television arms of OSBC including News and Current Affairs as well as sports, rising to the post of Director of News and Current Affairs(Grade Level 17). He is the pioneer Director of Sports in OSBC.

He belongs to a number of trade unions and professional bodies including: Nigeria Union of Journalists(NUJ); Society of Nigerian Broadcasters(SNB); Sports Writers Association of Nigeria(SWAN) and Nigerian Institute of Public Relations(NIPR), while he has held leadership positions in these organisations. A former Secretary, two-term Chairman of Osun SWAN and two-term Vice Chairman of SWAN(South West), Mr Adeleke had extensively covered sports fiesta and competitions within and outside the country one of which was the coverage of 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup in Brazil.

In the course of service, he attended several workshops, seminars and conferences within and outside Nigeria including those organised by BBC World Service Trust, U.S Embassy; Special Umrah for 1000 selected pilgrims from Africa in Saudi Arabia(2016); NIPR AGM and Mandatory Continuing Professional Development MCPD(Abuja 2022); NIPR AGM Conference and Elections(Abuja 2023). He has so far won several honours and awards notably Sports Journalist of the Year 1999( Osun NUJ); NUJ-OSBC Best Sports Editor(2001); Most Erudite Sports Journalist by Osun Today Magazine(2003) and Outstanding Media Practitioner’s Award by FCE, Oyo(2019).

Besides, he had served on various ad-hoc committees at the Local, State and Federal levels including Federal Ministry of Education Organized Activities Committee for NSSF(2006-2007); Member, Media Team of National Hajj Commission of Nigeria NACHON(2007 & 2022), Head of Media Team, Osun State Muslim Pilgrims Welfare Board(1994 & 2013) and member, Osun State Public Service Games( 2017-2022).

He has written newstalk on a wide range of topics broadcast on 104.5FM, co-authored a book and has several published articles to his credit.

Mr. Muideen Oyetunji Ajadi Adeleke is happily married and blessed with promising children.
