Flamingos head coach Bankole Olowookere says the team is now fully focused on their next game against Chile at the 2022 FIFA Women’s World Cup.

Olowookere’s girls got their campaign back on track with a comprehensive 4-0 win against New Zealand on Friday afternoon.

The West Africans started their campaign with a 2-1 defeat to Germany.
They now occupy second position in the group and need only a draw against the Chileans to scale through to the knockout round.

“We will approach the game against Chile the same way we did against Germany and New Zealand,” coach Olowookere said.

“This match is a step to the next stage or a step out of the competition and so we have to be a lot more careful.

“We will be cautious but be more focused and determined.”

Nigeria have reached the U17 World Cup quarterfinal thrice.

The Flamingoes ought to have put away the New Zealand game long before they did, but for lack of quality in their finishing.

The coach maintained he is not disturbed by the poor marksmanship because it is expected at this level of the game.

“These are young players coming up so such things are expected as part of their development,” he said.

“What was more important is that they have been creating the chances.”
