Aribo bags brace, Osimhen, Troost-Ekong score

Joe Aribo bagged a brace in Glasgow Rangers 8-0 annihilation of Hamilton Academical in Sunday’s Scottish Premiership clash at the Ibrox Stadium.

Aribo netted Rangers’ third and fourth goal of the game in seven minutes.

The 24-year-old has now scored four goals in eight league appearances for the Gers this season.

Aribo was replaced by Ianis Hagi in the 69th minute.

His compatriot, Leon Balogun featured for 90 minutes in the game. The 32-year-old has featured in eight league games for Rangers this term.

In Italy, Victor Osimhen’s header on a Hirving Lozano cross proved enough for Napoli who defeated Bologna 1-0 on Sunday.

The goal was his second in seven games so far this season.

At the Turin stadium, Simy Nwankwo failed to add to his tally of two in Crotone’s goalless draw away to Torino.

In England Kelechi Iheanacho was an unused substitute for Leicester City who beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 at the King Power stadium.

Semi Ajayi also made his seventh EPL start for West Brom who lost 1-0 to Tottenham Hotspurs on Sunday.

At the Goodison Park, Alex Iwobi, was on for 24 minutes in Everton’s 3-1 loss to Manchester United. The loss is the Toffees’ third of the season.

Iwobi replaced Gylfi Sigurdsson in the 66th minute of the encounter but failed to help the team pick any point at home despite his impressive display.

The game is Iwobi’s seventh of the season. He is yet to find the back of the net this season. His compatriot, Odion Ighalo was not listed for in Manchester United’s squad.

At the London Stadium, Super Eagles defender, Ola Aina, played the entire duration of the game in Fulham’s 1-0 loss to West Ham United on Saturday in the English Premier League.

In the Championships, former Super Eagles captain, Mikel Obi, played all 90 minutes in Stoke City’s 3-0 away win at log leaders Reading on Saturday as they continue their push for a Premier League return. The Stoke captain marshalled the midfield as he neutralised the threats from the opponent.

Williams Troost-Ekong scored his first goal for EPL hopefuls Watford in their 3-2 win against Coventry City at the Vicarage Road on Saturday. The Nigerian who played all 90 minutes scored the equaliser for the host in the 66th minute before Ismaila Sarr’s 83rd minute penalty goal gave the hosts the maximum points.

In Spain, Samuel Chukwueze and Ramon Azeez were not in action for their respective clubs on Sunday. While Chukwueze was benched for the entire duration of Villarreal’s 3-1 win over Getafe. Azeez was left out of Granada’s matchday squad that lost 2-0 to Real Sociedad.

In France, Henry Onyekuru was not listed for Monaco who made it two wins in a row following a 2-1 victory over Nice to move to fifth place in Ligue 1 on Sunday.

In Holland, Maduka Okoye kept his first clean sheet of the season in the Eredivisie in Sparta Rotterdam’s 2-0 win against RKC Waalwijk.

The game was his second league appearance for Sparta who claimed their first win of the season.

Kelechi Nwakali made a cameo appearance for Huesca in their 1-1 home draw against Eibar in the Spanish La Liga on Saturday. Nwakali replaced Mikel Rico in the 90th minute.

In Germany, Taiwo Awoniyi played for 17 minutes in Union Berlin’s 5-0 thrashing of newcomers Arminia Bielefeld on Saturday.

The 23-year-old striker replaced Joel Pohjanpalo in the 73rd minute. Awoniyi is yet to find the back of the net in five appearances for the German side.
