
TWO men, Mani Garba and Musa Adamu, have been remanded in Katsina police custody on the orders of a Katsina Senior Magistrate Court.
The duo, who are 21 years old each, have been charged with offences of criminal conspiracy, kidnapping and belonging to a gang of thieves.
They will be in police custody until July 14, 2020 when their case will come up for mention before Senior Magistrate Fadile Dikko, who ordered their remand
Garba of Tabki village, Faskari Local Government Area of the state and Adamu of Dan-Aji village, also in the same council are members of a seven-member gang, who allegedly kidnapped one Alhaji Musa Sale and Alhaji Sani Alhaji Hari, both of Dan-Aji village and took them to Ladduga forest in Zamfara State.
The gang reportedly collected a ransom of N2.5 million before their victims were released.
According to the police, other members of the gang are Ibrahim Adamu, 30, (late); Murtala Sani; Usman; Dan Makaranta;Danzuguli and Saadu Alhaji Karki, all whose address was given as Dumburum forest, Zamfara State, but who were said to be at large.
The police told the Magistrate Court that a joint team of the police and vigilante in Faskari Local Government Area arrested Garba on April 7, 2020 following a tip-off.
He was said to have confessed during interrogation that he and other members of the gang kidnapped Alhaji Sale and Alhaji Hari and took them to the gang leader, whose name was given as Alhaji Karki inside Ladduga forest.
Further investigation led to Adamu’s arrest.
