The Osun State House of Assembly, yesterday, March 12, 2020, read a bill for the first time to verify the mismanagement of government funds and assets.
The bill entitled: Financial Administration Bill was accompanied by a letter from Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and scaled up at first reading in plenary.
In this regard, the Speaker of the Osun House of Assembly, Timothy Owoeye, when introducing the executive bill, said that its passage will encourage transparency and the proper management of government funds and assets.
Owoeye also said, “The objective of this bill is to ensure and enhance the transparency, accountability and proper management of state and other government revenue, expenditures, assets and liabilities public state institutions. “The purpose of the bill, among other things, is to effectively and efficiently regulate financial management in the state. “Undoubtedly, if the bill is enacted, it will verify the mismanagement of government funds and assets, thereby increasing state revenues and ensuring sustainable state development.”
