Mr. Femi Falana (SAN), said he wants to write to the Attorney General of the Federation, Mr. Abubakar Malami (SAN), to know why the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government has not been complying to court orders. He made this known in a lecture with the theme; “Chronicling the struggle, Identifying the way forward.”
The chairman of the CDHR Board of Trustees, Falana said, the struggle for the respect of human rights in the country had made a lot of gains in the last 30 years. He expressed serious worry over disobedient to court orders by the government..
Oyebode In his lecture, faulted the 1999 Constitution, which according to him lacked legitimacy because the Gen. Abdulsalami Abubakar regime did not call for the input of the citizens.
He further stated that, for Nigeria to become a liberal democratic society, the people must be ready to put the government on its toes in order to facilitate a quick stop to impunity.
The National President of CDHR, Mr Malachy Ugwummadu, on a final note, described the organisation’s journey in the last 30 years as eventful with big potentials and possibilities to be achieved.
