Students in the state of Osun have been charged to stay focused in all areas of their endeavors. The Commissioner for Education, Hon. Folorunso Oladoyin gave the charge while addressing students at 2019 academic star national value competition certificates and award presentation.
The commissioner stated that the students are now among the best and they should always strive to always be among the best. Honourable Oladoyin said they should always remember the four principles of life and be diligent which means they should concentrate on their studies, be dedicated and focused, stressing that they should also be determined and disciplined in all areas of life.
He also admonished the students to be of good character as it’s the only character that will take them to the top, saying they can only achieve this by staying away from bad friends, drugs and cultism.
In his own remarks, the Special Adviser On Education, Hon. Jamiu Olawumi said they are at an age when they can learn a lot even without their teachers. Hon. Jamiu said they should always take note of good values so that they always pass on their knowledge in the future
Also in his opening remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. Festus Olajide, said it gladdens his heart that the ministry is awarding best students in the state to encourage them and others.
While speaking, the Director, Science, Maths and technical, Mr. Bashiru Fawole said the performance of the students could only be better through exposure to various competitions which is the saddle of the department of science, maths and technology, urging various stakeholders, non governmental organizations to collaborate with the department to carryout these activities.
Mr. Fawole said the organizers of the competition have been kind enough to give prizes and awards to each category of the competition and they are the best students from both category of primary five and six and JSS two and three who also received cash award of fifteen thousand each at the state level, the best three pupils from each category were honoured with national value ambassador certificate and plague while national values teachers were rewarded with a cash award of two thousand five hundred naira each.
Highlight of the programme was the presentation of awards by the Special Adviser to the Govenor on Education, Hon. Jamiu Olawumi.
