Coronavirus: Courts in Imo comply with govt’s showdown directive

Courts in some parts of Imo State have recorded full complainance with the directive of the state government to shutdown to prevent possible spread of the dreaded Coronavirus pandemic.

When the Nation visited some of Customary, Magistrate’s and High courts in the city and out side the Owerri metropolis, it was observed that the presidents and judges did not show up and few lawyers were seen taking new dates from the court clerks.

At Ihiagwa Magistrate and Customary courts some lawyers briefing their clients on the development.

Some office attendants and staff were seen around the premises discussing while some returned home immediately they heard the news of no work.

At former Owerri High Court, some lawyers were seen taking new dates from the court clerks while some offices like the admins were closed.

Meanwhile, there is a rise in the prices of face masks and hand sanitizer A facemask which cost N50 before the out break of the virus now between N200 and N500 depending on the brand.

Hand sanitizer of about 120ml which used to cost between N1000 and N1500 is now N2500 while that of 60ml which cost about N200 during Ebola pandemic is now sold at N1000.
