COVID-19: Makinde makes wearing of face mask compulsory for residents engage in public or outdoor activities, postpone reopening of state secretariat as part of measures to curtail further spread of COVID-19 in the state, Oyo state Governor, Seyi Makinde has ordered the compulsory use of facemask in all public and outdoor engagement across the state effective immediately. The Governor who gave the directive in a press briefing held at the government house shortly after a close door meeting of the state task force on COVID-19 said the state government would initially produce one million face masks for residents of the state.According to the Governor, hundred tailors would be trained by experts, and engaged to each make ten thousand face masks.Governor Makinde stressed that in view of the new positive cases to COVID-19 in the state, initial plans to reopen the state secretariat scheduled for 20th of April had been tentatively postponed to April 27th 2020.He also added that towards the end of next week, government would start rolling out palliatives, noting that the challenge of credible data had slowed the process but a valid and verified data had been put together for the smooth processThe Governor equally announced the resolve of the state to increase isolation centres with focus on the state hospitals in Ogbomoso, Saki and Igboora and encouraged farmers to keep safe so as to guarantee food security in the state after coronavirus.
