Her words: “My dear people of Osun State, remember that I wrote to you about two days ago about the steps we had taken to wage the war against the coronavirus. “Unfortunately, I want to say that we have the first confirmed case of novel Coronavirus in the state. This has been confirmed by the Nigeria Center for Disease Control, NCDC.   “The case is a returnee from the UK and is currently receiving treatment. “The sample was tested at the NCDC accredited testing center, which is the African Center of Excellence in Genomics of Infectious Diseases, Ede, Osun, and the result returned positive Tuesday evening.

“However, this confirmed case is not the first one we will be investigating. But so far everyone else has been negative. “The government contacted the patient’s family and has since started contact tracing to identify people who may have been in contact with the confirmed case.” “To this end, I would like to passionately encourage all returnees from the United Kingdom, the United States, Europe, the West African coast and even other high-risk countries to isolate themselves and to submit to tests, to help the government contain the spread. of the virus. The emergency number to call is 293. The other numbers are 08035025692, 08033908772 and 08056456250. “I want to urge all of you to continue to observe the necessary precautions by washing your hands regularly with soap and water and also to maintain the prescribed social distance. As part of our efforts to curb the spread of the coronavirus in the state, we have set up detention centers and that of Asubiaro’s specialized hospital, Osogbo, is operational, to isolate and treat suspected cases and reported viruses in the state. . Also speaking at the briefing, the health commissioner said Dr. Rafiu Isamontu, twenty judges who have returned from the United Arab Emirates are in isolation.
