Election: Be Professional in your Reportage; Oyetola charges Journalists

Osun State Governor, Gboyega Oyetola has enjoined journalists and media practitioners to embrace professionalism in their reportage most especially in the forth coming elections.

Governor Oyetola gave the advice on Tuesday while declaring open a two-day political communication workshop with the theme ‘Election Coverage for Journalists and Information Officers’ organized by the Ministry of Information and Civic Orientation in conjunction with A.k concept.

The Governor who was represented by the state Head of Service, Dr. Olowogboyega Oyebade maintained that journalists must not shy away from their responsibilities and embrace developmental journalism in their reportage

Earlier in her welcome address, Commissioner for information and Civic orientation Mrs. Funke Egbemode commended the Governor Oyetola for his magnanimity towards the activities of the Ministry.

Mrs Egbemode implored Journalists and information officers to see the workshop as timely, for them to be abreast of happenings in their immediate environment in the forthcoming elections, in the state in particular and Nigeria as a whole.

Stakeholders who spoke at the programme such as Chairman, Osun Council of the NUJ, Comrade Wasiu Ajadosu, Chairman House Committees on Information, Hon. Kunle Akande, Director General, Osun State Broadcasting Corporation, (OSBC), Mr. Rasheed Folaranmi all implored journalists to be proactive and reflect the knowledge garnered at the event for their future endeavors.
