Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has been named the Premier League Manager of the Month for August.
Arsenal announced Arteta as the winner on their website on Friday.
The Spaniard beat off competition from Pep Guardiola Manchester City, Antonio Conte, Graham Potter and Marco Silva to the award.
“Massive congratulations to Mikel Arteta and his staff, after he was named the Premier League’s Manager of the Month for August,” Arsenal stated.
“We won all five of our August fixtures, scoring 13 goals and conceding only four in the process. Our manager led us to victory against Crystal Palace, Leicester City, Bournemouth, Fulham, and Aston Villa, finishing the month top of the table.
“Mikel is our second manager to win his opening five games of a Premier League season. Arsene Wenger achieved this record in two successive seasons during our Invincibles era of 2003/04.
“This is the third Manager of the Month award for the boss, who won it two times last season in September and March. This time around, he beat Antonio Conte, Pep Guardiola, Graham Potter and Marco Silva.”
Arteta will hope his Arsenal side will bounce back to winning ways in the Premier League when they will be guests to Brentford on Sunday.
After winning their opening five league fixtures, Arsenal’s unbeaten run was ended after a 3-1 loss to Manchester United at Old Trafford.
