The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on Thursday arraigned a former Executive Secretary, Lagos State Scholarship Board, Stephen Oshinowo, for alleged N127m fraud.
Oshinowo, according to a statement by the EFCC, was arraigned on amended eight counts before the Lagos State Special Offences Court in Ikeja.
Among others, the EFCC alleged that as a civil servant, Oshinowo, sometime in 2018, “dishonourably converted N30m, being property of Lagos State, to the use of Oshinowo Adenike.”
He was also accused of “dishonourably converting to your own use, through Julikam International Limited, a sum of N39, 934,919.”
Oshinowo, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The prosecuting counsel for the EFCC, Mr Usman Buhari, prayed the court to fix a date for trial and to remand the defendant in custody.
The defence lawyer, Mr Lawal Pedro (SAN), prayed for a short adjournment to move a bail application on behalf of his client.
Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo, in a short ruling, adjourned the matter till Friday (today) to hear the bail application.
She, however, ordered that Oshinowo should be remanded in the correctional centre.
