The Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun has assured the State’s stakeholders that the Assembly is ready to cooperate with other arms of government to ensure the actualization of the developmental agenda of Governor Ademola Adeleke.
This was contained in his goodwill message at the ongoing strategic retreat and onboarding programme for new political office holders and key stakeholders of the State organised by the Osun State government.
Rt. Hon. Adewale Egbedun emphasized that the 8th Assembly under his leadership is already laying a solid foundation for the actualization of the set agenda of the Adeleke-led government. He noted that laws that will ease governance and make the state attractive to investors are already being worked on.
The Speaker said “Permit me to mention to this esteemed gathering, that under my leadership, the Osun State House of Assembly, being active partners with the Executive, is already laying solid groundwork for the actualization of the agenda of this government.
We have swiftly put to rest, the conflicts in the identity and appellation of our dear State, through the Osun Anthem, Crest and Flag Law 2023. By the provisions of this Law, our State is now to be known as Osun State, as against the litigation-laden ‘State of Osun’. Clarifying the State’s identity has helped us to remove distractions on the path of this government, and we can now focus on the serious business of governance.”
He further stated that “The Assembly, under my leadership, is also working on new laws that will ease governance, make the State attractive to investors and make life comfortable for the people of the State. These laws are coming in through bills like the Osun State Local Content Bill, the Osun State Community Social Responsibility Bill, Osun Illegal Mining Prohibition Bill, Osun State Disability Protection Bill, among many others.
He concluded that aside from lawmaking, the House of Assembly will also efficiently discharge its oversight duties, thereby actively helping the Executive to monitor the implementation of government policies.
The retreat is ongoing in Ede, Osun State, and is being attended by public office holders and key stakeholders across all arms of government in Osun State.
