An Ekiti State Magistrate’s Court sitting in Ado Ekiti, on Wednesday, ordered the remand of a 37-year-old man, Musa Nurudeen, at the custodial centre in Ado Ekiti for allegedly defiling his 11-year-old daughter.

The prosecutor from the state Ministry of Justice, E.S. Atane, said Nurudeen was charged with the rape of the Junior Secondary School student at their residence on May 19, 2021, within the Ado Ekiti magisterial district.

He said the offence was contrary to Section 357 of the Criminal Code Cap. C38 Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

Atane urged the court to remand the defendant pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecutions.

The Magistrate, O.F. Bamidele, granted the prosecutor’s request and ordered the remand of the defendant in custody.

Bamidele adjourned the matter till August 11, 2021 for mention.
