Palpable tension gripped residents of the Odo Ado area of Ado-Ekiti, the state capital, following the murder of a director of the Ekiti State Local Government Services Commission , Mr. David Jejelowo, by unknown gunmen in the area. The Nation has learned that the incident occurred in the wee hours of Monday at its residence located on Umesi Street, in the Igirigiri region of the Ado-Ekiti metropolis. Ekiti Command Police Public Relations Officer Mr. Sunday Abutu confirmed the incident to our reporter in a phone conversation, said the body was evacuated to the hospital morgue Ekiti State University, Ado Ekiti. Abutu said the armed assailants stormed the deceased's residence on Monday at around 1:00 a.m. and shot him dead in his room. He said police were unable to determine the intention of the attackers, adding that Police Commissioner Tunde Mobayo had ordered an investigation. “I can confirm to you that the man named David Jejelowo was killed at his residence on Umesi Street, in the Odo Ado neighborhood of Ado Ekiti early this morning (Monday) by assailants. “He was killed in his room by assailants whose intent we have not been able to establish yet. “We are investigating and I think our investigation will reveal whether this is a case of murder or theft. “We assure the public that the perpetrators will be arrested and punished for their sins,” he said.
