Hammola International Football Club of Ido Osun will on Saturday battle with IMO FC of Iwo in the final of the 3rd edition of the Hammola Football Championship organised by the Grassroot Football Coaches Council, (GFCC), Egbedore Local Government area of Osun State.
“Lee Bombers” got to the final in style and with a scintillating record in Osun as the first team to land in the final of a major competition without conceding a goal, scoring a whopping 12 goals in the process.
The “Odhelee Boys” who entered into the tournament as a favourite, having reached finals of the last two editions, did not disappoint their fans from the first match where they dimmed the stars of Rising Prime FC by a lone goal. In the second group game, Hammola caned “Okaa Sports FC’ of Ilorin by two goals to nil before they removed the ‘Crown’ from Prince Adekole FC three times in the last group match.
Lee Bombers also crushed and caged YSF Warriors in the second round by 2 unreplied goals, tore Beyond The Limit FC to Three in the semi final while the Young Talented FC bowed to Hammola by a lone goal in the semi final.
Hammola’s opponents in the final, IMO FC of Iwo are also a force to reckon with, after victories in 5 out of the 6 matches en route the final. IMO FC who paraded professional stars beat Civil Defence FC 1-0, lost to Surprise FC Ejigbo 1-3 and defeated Surprise FC Oshogbo 2-0 in the group stage.
They defeated Future Boys FC 2-0 in the second round, beat TSO 4-3 on penalties in the Quarter Final after a goalless draw and reached the final on a 6-5 demolition of All Stars FC Iwo in the derby Semi Final after another goalless draw.
The cracker of a final billed for Ido Osun High School will kick off 3pm amid presence of several dignitaries from across the walks of life such as the Governor-Elect, Senator Ademola Adeleke, Hon. Bamidele Salam who represents Ede North, Ede South, Egbedore and Ejigbo at the House of Representatives in Abuja, Osun West Senatorial Candidate of the PDP Akogun Lere Oyewumi, Osun FA under Chief Mustapha Ishola Ajiroba, Hon. Rotimi Ogurinade among others.
Royal father of the day is the Olojudo of Ido Osun, Oba Adeen Aderemi Adedapo Sapoyoro the first who will be present together with his Chiefs.
