The Kano State Hisba Board has set up a five-man committee to investigate its official, Sani Uba Rimo, who was arrested by the police with a married woman in a hotel.
Rimo, the Officer in Charge, Anti-begging, was apprehended by the police in Downtown Hotel in Sabon Gari area of Kano metropolis last Monday night.
The Board’s Public Relations Officer, Lawal Ibrahim, told The PUNCH that the committee had been given three days within which to submit its report to the board for necessary action.
He said after the investigation, the board would take necessary disciplinary action against the officer.
“But if the outcome of the investigation or the recommendations are beyond the power of the board, it will forward same to the appropriate authority for necessary action,” he said.
Rimo was said to have been arrested following a complaint lodged by the husband of the woman with whom he allegedly had an affair in the hotel.
When asked of the whereabouts of the arrested officer, the Public Relations Officer of the board said the officer had been released until after the outcome of the investigation as the offence had yet to be established.
