In the meantime, Finance Minister, Mrs Zainab Ahmed has described the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF’s) advice to the federal government on the need to remove fuel subsidy as a good advice.
Speaking at the sidelines of the ongoing IMF/World Bank spring meetings in Washington D.C, Mrs Ahmed said the advice from the IMF on fuel subsidy removal was good but will be implemented in a manner that will be successful and sustainable.
She said Nigerians need to understand large amounts of subsidy cannot be removed at a go, but on a gradual process and the public has to be well-informed.
She said the review of IMF resolutions was a positive one with the indication that they are available to provide technical support to improve Nigeria’s liquidity management, debt management and other fiscal measures.
Mrs Ahmed said President Muhammadu Buhari has directed her to looks at every area that requires reforms.
