Ilesa FRSC report 21 deaths in 42 road crashes

The Ilesa Unit Command of the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) has stated that it has recorded 21 deaths in 42 road accidents so far in 2021.

Speaking during the Ember Month Campaign flag-off in Ilesa, the Unit Commander, Assistant Corps Commander, Olufemi Buraimo revealed that 130 people also sustained various degrees of injuries while 230 people got rescued unhurt during this period.

In the same vein, the Zonal Head of Operations, Deputy Corps Commander, Dare Ogunjobi also blamed the road crashes on traffic infractions which included overspeeding, overloading, dangerous driving, driving against traffic among others.

Ogunjobi called on vehicle drivers to always maintain a cool head on the wheels and avoid driving under the influence of alcohol.

On his part, the representative of the Zonal Commander, Assistant Corps Marshal, Omotoso Abe, Deputy Corps Commander Leye Olugbenga also reiterated the need for drivers to always maintain a reasonable speed limit while driving and to always cooperate with FRSC personnel as to reduce the carnage on the highways.
