A 35-year-old woman, Comfort Innocent, who was arrested by the personnel of the Ogun State Police Command for alleged human trafficking, has begged to have access to her nine-month-old baby, who was taken away from her.

It was reported that the command arrested Innocent while she was attempting to traffic two underage girls to Libya.

Innocent, while speaking in an interview on Monday, disclosed that her nine-month-old baby, Chibuzo, was taken away from her after she was arrested.

The police, however, said her baby was being kept at the state-owned Motherless Babies’ Home in Abeokuta.

She stated, “I don’t know what happened that they (police) took my nine-month-old baby, Chibuzo Innocent, from me. I don’t know where they took my baby to. I am feeling headache and pain in my breasts.

“They lied against me; I am not taking the girls for which I was arrested for prostitution. Truly, my husband is in Libya. He is a mechanic. I have never done human trafficking before.

“The person handling my case in Zone 2 took my baby from me. I don’t know where my baby is. The government should help me because of my baby. I don’t know where they put my baby now; I am not feeling fine.

“The parents of the girls said they were not interested in pressing charges against me; I don’t know why the police are still keeping me here.”
