Jigawa records 51 new COVID-19 cases

Jigawa state has recorded 51 new cases of Coronavirus, making a total number of confirmed cases in the state to 169, and 3 deaths recorded so far.

The commissioner of Health, who is also the chairman task force on Covid-19, Dr Abba Zakari Confirmed this to Newsmen at the NYSC orientation camp, Dutse.

He added that preventive measures are being taken to curtail the spread of the pandemic which includes imposing of wearing of face masks, observing social distancing, washing of hands among others.

According to him, 31 of the cases are almajirai that were repatriated from Kano state, which accounts for 56 percent of the total log of cases recorded in the state, adding that government is taking adequate care of the returnees Almajirai interm of their feeding, shelter and other basic needs.

Meanwhile, the Commissioner explained that testing will soon commence in Jigawa, as they have already procured the equipment and have decided to use the Dutse General hospital’s laboratory for the testing.

“The testing center will ease difficulty faced in taking samples to Abuja and Kaduna”. He noted.
