The Ministry of Health in Kano says it has recorded 30 new cases of Coronavirus (COVID-19), in the state.

The ministry, via its verified Twitter handle @KNSMOH, said the total number of infection now stands at 427 in the state.

It added that there are 408 active cases, six discharged patients and 13 deaths.

“Update as at 12:02 a.m. May 7, 30 new COVID-19 cases confirmed.

“Total confirmed cases in Kano state are now 427, three additional COVID-19 patients were successfully discharged and five deaths recorded,” it said.

The ministry also disclosed that the first sample was delivered on Wednesday to the weare54gene mobile laboratory in Kano.

The facility was donated by Aliko Dangote to enhance detection, clinical test and management of COVID-19 disease.

The mobile test facility was designed with a 400 daily sample capacity to complement the existing test centres established by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), at Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, and Bayero University, Kano.

The two existing centres have a combined daily sample capacity of 260.
