The lawyer who is defending Senator Smart Adeyemi before the election tribunal, Dr. Oladapo Otitoju has said that some armed hoodlums burgled his law firm located in the Mpape new layout, Abuja early on Sunday.

Otitoju is the lead lawyer to Adeyemi, who is a respondent in the petition by Dino Melaye and his party, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), with which they are challenging the outcome of the Kogi-West senatorial district, won by Adeyemi of the All progressives Congress (APC).

The lawyer said the armed hoodlums, numbering about seven invaded the office at about midnight and tied the security man on duty while they ransacked his office.

Otitoju, who is yet to fully ascertain the quantum of damage done by the invaders, noted that the incident occurred three days after the petitioners closed their case before the tribunal.

The lawyer noted that, in the process of forcing their way into his office, the hoodlums damaged doors, windows and other valuables.

He said unknown to the hoodlums, no document relating to the case before the tribunal was kept in the office.

”My office was attacked by suspected armed gang looking for documents of cases in court.

”Unknown to them, the documents and files of cases were not kept in the office,” he said.
