• Man arrested over wife’s death in Lagos

Deji Lambo and Peter Dada

The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a woman, identified as Queen Beatrice, for allegedly killing her husband, Emmanuel Ikujuni, at Omotosho town, in the Okitipupa Local Government Area of Ondo State.

PUNCH Metro gathered that the suspect hit the head of the deceased with a plank following an argument that ensued between them after Emmanuel allegedly called another woman on phone in his wife’s presence.

After the deceased was hit with the plank, he was said to have collapsed.

His neighbours rushed him to a nearby hospital, where he was confirmed dead.

The deceased’s sister, Imoleayo Ikujuni, who confirmed the incident, claimed that the suspect challenged her late brother for calling another lady.

She said, “During the fight, she hit him with a plank and he died. The police have arrested her and the matter has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Akure, for further investigation.”

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Mr Tee-Leo Ikoro, confirmed the incident, adding that investigation was ongoing.

PUNCH Metro learnt that the corpse had been deposited in a morgue for an autopsy.

In a related development, a man, David Idibie, has been arrested by the police in Lagos for allegedly causing the death of his wife, Juliana, at their residence on Joado Street, in the Ajah area of the state.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, in a statement on Wednesday, said David and Juliana were having an argument when his wife suddenly slumped, adding that he abandoned her to die.https://googleads.g.doubleclick.net/pagead/ads?guci=2.1.0.4.2.2.0.0&gdpr=0&client=ca-pub-7167863529667065&output=html&h=250&slotname=4561673892&adk=3001856891&adf=4090137625&pi=t.ma~as.4561673892&w=300&lmt=1613667141&psa=1&format=300×250&url=https%3A%2F%2Fpunchng.com%2Fondo-wife-kills-husband-over-telephone-call-to-another-woman%2F&flash=0&wgl=1&adsid=ChAIgL24gQYQurPq-YWuzbk0Ej0AIp601xpoXSY7hyRVNwiecTBlawsv0hWIAy7Jc7foexS3BSmKCXeO1A-QjJs8kKh8YjzimMb6eWmF3uQR&dt=1613667141293&bpp=3&bdt=4286&idt=3&shv=r20210211&cbv=r20190131&ptt=9&saldr=aa&abxe=1&cookie=ID%3D41d7805a8ed9721e%3AT%3D1613666748%3AS%3DALNI_MZNB4u57mLtoAs4vSQcPVG9BdVCRg&correlator=329388969989&frm=20&pv=2&ga_vid=188705024.1602494167&ga_sid=1613667140&ga_hid=1438722147&ga_fc=0&u_tz=60&u_his=1&u_java=0&u_h=1080&u_w=1920&u_ah=1040&u_aw=1920&u_cd=24&u_nplug=3&u_nmime=4&adx=184&ady=2170&biw=1903&bih=880&scr_x=0&scr_y=0&eid=42530671%2C44735931%2C21068083%2C21068769%2C21068893&oid=3&pvsid=4013753470709884&pem=441&ref=https%3A%2F%2Fpunchng.com%2Ftopics%2Fmetro-plus%2F&rx=0&eae=0&fc=1920&brdim=0%2C0%2C0%2C0%2C1920%2C0%2C1920%2C1040%2C1920%2C880&vis=1&rsz=%7C%7CleEbr%7C&abl=CS&pfx=0&fu=8192&bc=31&ifi=12&uci=a!c&btvi=1&fsb=1&xpc=zTvilWzRs6&p=https%3A//punchng.com&dtd=89

Adejobi explained that Juliana’s remains were recovered in a pool of blood.https://frontend.1worldonline.com/widget/smart3-1c863be9.html#!/widget/0b92110e-65b9-415b-b1f0-eb6a15aac802&type=widget&code=0b92110e-65b9-415b-b1f0-eb6a15aac802&mode=smart3&token=0b92110e-65b9-415b-b1f0-eb6a15aac802-1&location=https%3A%2F%2Fpunchng.com%2Fondo-wife-kills-husband-over-telephone-call-to-another-woman%2Fabout:blank

He said, “The Lagos State Police Command has arrested one David Idibie, of Joado Street, Oke Ira Nla, in the Ajah area of the state, for the murder of his wife, one Juliana, 42, of same address, on February 16, 2021 around 10pm.

“It was gathered that the deceased had engaged the suspect in a hot argument on certain matrimonial issues and in the process, she slumped and sustained severe head injuries. While lying in a pool of blood, the angry husband refused to rescue her until she gave up the ghost.

“The police operatives attached to the Langbasa division, Ajah, who were informed of the ugly incident by a neighbour of the couple, raced to the scene, arrested the suspect and took the corpse to a mortuary.”

Adejobi said the command was ready to partner relevant government agencies and non-governmental bodies to tackle the problem of domestic violence in the state.
