The Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo has allayed  the fear of the people of Ogun State over the  alleged planned attacks  during the governorship and the House of Assembly elections in Ogun State on Saturday.

Osinbajo  said this on Wednesday while  addressing traders  at Kuto, Itoku, Lafenwa and Panseke markets in Abeokuta, the state capital  during a mega rally.

Osinbajo  led the campaign train of the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun state ,Dapo Abiodun in  some parts of Abeokuta.

Osinbajo,  who was supported  by a former Governor of the state ,Segun Osoba  and others,  toured   some parts of  Abeokuta including Kuto ;  Ibara ; Sapon, Itoku, Lafenwa ; Omida ; Akin-Oluglbade and  Ake where the rally was terminated.

It was gathered that , Osinbajo took over the responsibility of leading the campaign,  following the suspension  of the state Governor ,Ibikunle Amosun  from the APC.

Amosun had,  prior to his suspension, led the campaign train of  his favourite candidate,  Adekunle Akinlade of the Allied Peoples Movement.

Osinbajo   said the  security reports reaching the Presidency indicated that some people in the state had  been threatening to unleash mayhem during the election.

The Vice President explained that the move was to  discourage  the electorate from coming out to cast their votes  on  Saturday.

Osinbajo said, “We will do all humanly possible within the ambit of the law to provide adequate security for all and sundry during  and after the coming governorship and houses of assembly elections in the state. So, don’t panic, as we are up to the task ahead.

“The coming governorship election in Ogun State is very crucial and we should all come out and vote. You are to cast your votes for Prince Dapo Abiodun as the Ogun state governor. Also, vote for all House of Assembly candidates of the All Progressives Congress.

Also,  speaking at the mega rally, Osoba advised the people of the state to cast their votes for Abiodun as the next governor of the state.

The governorship candidate of the APC,  who was accompanied  his running mate, Mrs Noimot Salako-Oyedele, the Lagos West Senator, Solomon Adeola and  other chieftains of the party appealed to  the people of the state to come out en-masse on Saturday and cast their votes for him as the governor of the state and the party’s House of Assembly candidates.
