Counsel to Governor Gboeyga Oyetola, the second respondent in the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party. PDP, before the Osun State election petition tribunal, sitting in Abuja chief Wole Olanipekun has called for the outright dismissal of the petition.

Delivering his final written address, as a leading counsel to Governor Gboyega Oyetola, Chief Olanipekun said his demand is because the petition is full of inconsistencies and confusions.

Quoting copiously from the constitution, the electoral law and other authorities, the Senior Advocate of Nigeria said the petition cannot stand in the eye of the law.

The counsel to the APC, Chief Akin Olujimi also supported the position of Chief Olanipekun, adding that the witnesses called by the petitioner failed to prove his case in their various testimonies.

However, the lead counsel of the petitioner, Dr. Onyechi Ipeazu prayed the court to declare that Mr. Oyetola was not the valid winner of either the substantive poll or the re-run election and called for the nullification of the declaration of Mr. Oyetola as the validly elected governor of the state.

In the meantime, Justice Ibrahim Sirajo led Osun State governorship election petition tribunal has adjourned to deliver judgement on the petition.
