Health workers in Osun State will between October 6 and 11, this year, carry out measles vaccination for children across the state.
The Executive Secretary, Osun State Primary Health Care Development Board Olubukola Olujide made this known at a stakeholders’ meeting held in Osogbo.
She said the vaccinators would visit religious centres, market places, schools and other places where children are found to carryout the exercise. She urged parents and caregivers to make their awards available for the vaccination.
A statement issued by the press officer of the board, Opeyemi Bello, quoted Olujide as saying that the vaccine would be administered to all eligible children between 9 and 59 months in the state.
She said, “tthe Osun State Government, in collaboration with the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, World Health Organization, United Nations Children’d Fund and other development partners, will be conducting an integrated measles campaign across 30 Local Government and Area council in the state, in line with the National Measles Elimination Strategic Plan 2018-2028.”
Olujide noted that the forthcoming measles vaccination campaign would be integrated with other primary healthcare services and routine immunization to improve efficiency and effectiveness, especially at the primary healthcare level, while also providing opportunity for parents and caregivers to access multiple services at the same time.
“I want to assure the good people of Osun State that immunisation is safe and effective, and I, therefore, call on all people of Osun to take advantage of this mass campaign that will be commencing on 6, October 2022,” she said.
