The Rivers state police command has announced the capture of a deadly kidnapper simple identified as Samuel Nakpoo.

Nakpoo was part of a notorious gang of robbers terrorizing residents of the Ogoni-Uyo axis of the East-West road, Rivers state. Our correspondent gathered that Nakpoo was shot dead by Policemen as he tried to escape during a raid on their hideout.

The raid was carried out by officers attached to ‘Operation Sting’ and Anti-cultism led by one Lawson Ahijo. It was gathered that Nakpoo was captured alive and confessed to his crimes.

He led the police to his gang’s camp but was gunned down as he tried to escape during the raid.

A huge cache of arms was recovered from gang’s hideout in Ogu/Bolo LGA of the state. According to DSP Nnamdi Omoni, who paraded criminal’s corpse and recovered weapons, the cache was enough to ‘sack’ an entire community.

The recovered weapons include one GPMG, G-3rifles, one SMG rifle, one rocket launcher, five pump action guns, 933 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition and several AK-47 magazines.
